Primary Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the electrical engineer include reviewing projects in their conceptual stages by checking drawings, interfacing with plant operations, and consulting engineering groups; developing electrical budgets for projects and managing installation and commissioning to avoid cost overrun; utilizing Microsoft Project, scheduling projects by defining resources and project duration; researching new electrical technology for applicable mill processes; coordinating liquidation of obsolete equipment and parts inventory on decommissioned machines; participating in preventive-maintenance audits at all sites; reinforcing safety culture by conducting safety and daily progress meetings for major projects, performing safety and health evaluations upon project completion, and ensuring all contractors have completed safety orientation. While this individual will likely be based out of Central Louisiana, he/she must be able to travel as needed, providing electrical-engineering support to all company facilities. The amount of travel to facilities in Chopin and Oakdale, Louisiana, and Corrigan, Texas, will depend upon the nature and duration of the engineering projects.

Job Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s or technical degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience; 3+ years of experience in electrical-engineering applications in a manufacturing environment; and proficiency in PLC programming, HMI programming, power and distribution systems, VFD programming and installation, Ethernet networking, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD 2014. He/she must be able to safely travel to all RoyOMartin locations.
