Primary Responsibilities: The logistics specialist is a professional who is responsible for the movement and management of the organization’s inventory and goods. Specifically, this position involves the following activities: managing transportation planning and scheduling, and storage of goods at offsite locations; determining the most efficient and cost-effective method of freight movement; analyzing and optimizing logistical procedures; reviewing freight rates and other transportation costs to ensure cost-management practices; ensuring timely pickup and delivery of shipments; and acting as a liaison between customer, sales, and manufacturing facilities.
Job Qualifications: Required skills include knowledge of logistics functions and best practices, excellent record-keeping skills, proven management skills, and strong knowledge of communication practices, tools and techniques. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. At least 3 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
