Primary responsibilities: This position is responsible for the IBiZ philosophy and serving as the site resource for purchasing all MRO and site contract services. The individual will work closely with maintenance, operations, and suppliers to plan and ensure the accurate and timely supply of the facility’s materials and services. Organizing and prioritizing work with exceptional communication and follow up are imperatives for this role. He/she is responsible for sourcing materials, equipment, and services in accordance with their customer’s needs and RoyOMartin’s policies and procedures. The individual must possess a working knowledge of freight terms and modes of transit, change management, insurance, risk mitigation, inventories, negotiation, and T&M and Firm Price contracts. The individual must be solutions oriented and proficient at solving problems with internal and external business contacts. He/she will be expected to cross-train and be able to perform the other roles within the department to help cover peak periods and vacations as needed. Lastly, this individual will be required to be actively engaged in the safety culture and participate in the facility’s committees and team-development opportunities.
Job qualifications: For consideration, candidates must possess an understanding of commonly-used business and procurement concepts, practices, and procedures, and have 5+ years purchasing experience buying electrical, mechanical, and construction materials in a construction or manufacturing environment. Additionally, experience as a buyer or planner in a high-volume manufacturing or construction environment industry is desired. A college degree is preferred and will be given consideration toward the required purchasing experience. Experience in the wood-products industry and working with the Maximo ERP system, as well as forklift certification, is a plus.
