Primary Responsibilities: The safety manager is responsible for providing technical, analytical, and consultative support to management to ensure a safe, healthy, and productive working environment at the Corrigan, Texas, facility (Corrigan OSB, L.L.C.). Specifically, this position involves the following activities: identifying and resolving employee safety and environment issues; leading initial safety training for new employees; actively participating in plant safety audits and improvements; overseeing all safety equipment to ensure preventive measures and effective safeguards are developed and used; facilitating investigations of serious injuries and incidents; assisting line management in ensuring all required safety training and reporting are performed in accordance with company and OSHA requirements; ensuring supervisory personnel are properly enabled to fulfill their safety responsibilities; and maintaining required governmental logs and files.

Job Qualifications: Required skills, experience, and education includes a degree in behavioral health science or a technical degree with equivalent experience; 5+ years of safety-focused experience in a manufacturing environment; Professional certification or ability to obtain within 1 year (CSP, SMS, COSM, etc.); expert knowledge of process safety management and all government safety rules and regulations, including OSHA and NIOSH protocols; the ability to effectively influence line management to enact safety programming/processes to achieve an accident-free environment; and the ability to facilitate safety and environmental audits, root-cause analyses, and group problem solving.
