Alexandria, La. – (August 2, 2019) – Wood-products manufacturer RoyOMartin announced today that its land and timber department has completed 12 years without an OSHA-recordable injury, effective August 2. Logging and forestry have historically been among the most dangerous occupations in North America. Given those statistics and the vast amount of timberland managed by RoyOMartin foresters—nearly 550,000 acres—this accomplishment is especially noteworthy.
Keys to the team’s success include reporting near-misses, performing quality safety audits, and making daily contacts, in cooperation with a dedicated team of health, safety, and environmental professionals.
“Our team of dedicated ladies and gentlemen continues to effectively grow our work-family’s safety culture,” explained RoyOMartin Vice President of Land and Timber Cade Young. “We believe that positive safety culture is a living thing that must be nurtured, educated, and protected from unhealthy influence. Individual recognition and acceptance of personal safety responsibility is necessary to avoid recordable accidents and protect our peers. In recognition of working 12 years without a recordable injury, the department will host a celebration for its approximately 50 foresters and support personnel in the near future.
