What is TuffStrand® OSB?
TuffStrand® is a heavy-duty, APA-rated structural OSB sheathing panel made from southern yellow pine. Built for both wall and roof applications, it’s a reliable, go-to choice for giving residential homes and light commercial buildings a rock-solid structural foundation.

What is the difference between TuffStrand® and TuffStrand®XL?
TuffStrand®XL is the extended-length version of the same panel. XL lengths let framers sheath taller walls without a horizontal joint, which strengthens the wall and reduces the blocking and cut time a standard 8′ panel requires.

When should I use TuffStrand®XL instead of standard TuffStrand®?
Go with XL panels on walls taller than 8 feet, on two-story or raised-floor setups, and anywhere you want to completely get rid of a horizontal seam. For conventional 8-foot wall heights and standard roof decking, standard TuffStrand® has you covered.

Is TuffStrand® stronger than plywood?
TuffStrand® is engineered to APA structural sheathing ratings, the same performance standard plywood is rated against, so panels of equivalent rating perform similarly in the assembly. TuffStrand® panels are engineered to resist warping, cupping, and delamination while offering a lighter load during transport and installation.

Does TuffStrand® have sealed edges?
Yes. Thanks to sealed edges and a smooth finish, these panels are less likely to suffer from edge swelling when things get damp. This gives the whole project a clean, professional look while also making panels much easier and smoother to handle on the job site.

What are TuffStrand® panels rated by?
APA – The Engineered Wood Association (mill number 511), manufactured to DOC PS2 and PRP-108.

How should TuffStrand® be stored on site?
