2024 APA SHAC Winner

July 21, 2025 —  RoyOMartin has been named a winner in the 2024 APA Safety & Health Awards, the premier safety award program for North America’s engineered wood products industry, presented by APA – The Engineered Wood Association. The program promotes and recognizes operational excellence with the goal of reducing injury and illness rates.

This year, our Chopin, Louisiana, plywood manufacturing mill won the following awards:

  • First-place Annual Safety & Health Award in Division I (Plywood)
  • 3-Year Safety Award (2022-2024) in Division I (Plywood) category.

Since 2008, RoyOMartin has been honored with 13 awards from APA across each of its locations. These accolades include Annual Safety and Health Awards, 3-Year Safety Awards, Incident-Free Honor Society recognition, and Innovation in Safety Awards, reflecting the company’s strong culture of safety and continuous improvement.

“I am extremely proud of the plywood team’s commitment to safety as evidenced by the first place and 3-year APA Safety Award in their division,” states Vice President of Environmental, Safety, and Sustainability Operations Natalie Monroe. “While the team has had its share of safety challenges in the past year, they continue to work together to find and implement safety solutions to keep all team members safe every day. Thanks to every team member for your continued focus on safety!”

Now in its 17th year, the program aims to improve overall safety performance and encourages the sharing of best practices to improve the industry’s safety culture and programs. We are proud to be part of this mission to advance workplace safety. To learn more about this program, visit: https://www.apawood.org/awards-program
