RoyOMartin Presents Local School with Proceeds from Timber-Harvesting Operation

Ruby Wise Donation Small Group

Pineville, La. – (September 17, 2018) – RoyOMartin representatives gathered this morning to present Ruby Wise Elementary School in Pineville, Louisiana, with a $7,500 check generated from the recent first thinning of timberland adjacent to the school.

“This money is going to be used for technology and also some instructional materials,” stated Ruby Wise Principal Harry Welch. “All of this will be used by the students, and we appreciate RoyOMartin for donating this money that will allow us to improve our technology. It’s a great help.”

Roy O. Martin III, president and CEO, explained that the RoyOMartin-Ruby Wise partnership began in 1951, when his grandfather, Roy O. Martin Sr., donated timber to the school. More recently, in 2001, the harvested timber amounted to a donation of approximately $120,000 and led to another 50-year timber dedication.

“We’re supportive of our educational institutions here in Rapides Parish and in other places, and one of our goals is to teach kids about the forest-products industry early and enable them to be job-ready upon graduation,” stated Martin.

In addition to RoyOMartin executives and school leadership, attendees included Rapides Parish School Board Member Gerald Crooks, District C, and three Ruby Wise children of current RoyOMartin employees, Chris and Rena Clayton and James and Jenna Foster.
