Alexandria, La. – (September 21, 2019) – Below is a message from President, CEO, and CFO Roy O. Martin III:
We at RoyOMartin sadly announce the passing of our Chairman, Jonathan E. Martin.
The grandson of our founder (and my first cousin), Johnny worked for the family business for 49 years. He was a pillar in the Alexandria community and was in fairly good health when he was awarded the Rotary Club “Service Above Self” award in June.
Almost two years ago, Johnny contracted idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The incurable disease was stable for more than a year, before advancing rapidly over the past two months. He was 70 years old when he passed, just days before his birthday on October 3.
Johnny was honored that so many of you have participated in the BHA Guns & Golf Classic, benefiting the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home. Now in its fifteenth year, this tournament, created by Johnny and to be held next weekend, has raised over $2 million for some of the most vulnerable children in Louisiana.
We thank you for your enduring support and commitment to our companies as we honor the memory and life of Johnny.
